Red Wing's turn-of-the-century Sheldon Theatre showcases the best in music, theatre, dance, comedy, and film by local, regional, national, and international artists. The Sheldon also produces its own shows showcasing local artists and performing groups including The Sheldon Theatre Brass Band, The Phoenix Theatre and The Red Wing Singers.

This historic theare, built in 1904 by local businessman T.B. Sheldon, was the nation's first city-owned theatre. In 1986 the theatre underwent a complete restoration to reinstate the building to its original splendor.

The Sheldon Theatre, described as a "glittering jewel box", charms performers and audiences alike.

The Dining Room by A.R. Gurney - Phoenix Theatre
The "Dining Room" is a dramatic, and sometimes comedic, presentation set in the dining room of a typcal upper-middle-class WASP family. Written for a cast of only 6 actors, 57 different characters are performed to represent WASP families and other American cultures. With each vignette, the actors change roles, personalities and ages to portray a wide variety of characters, from little boys to stern grandfathers, from Irish housemaids to senile grandmothers. Every new set of people ad events gives an in depth portrait of the dying WASP culture.

America: The Great Melting Pot - Red Wing Singers
Always a hit is everyone's favorite hometown singing group, the Red Wing Singers. "America: The Great Melting Pot" celebrates music from cultures around the world including African, Cuban, European, Native American and many others. This weave of music from around the world will leave you hungry for more!

Doyle Lawson and Quicksilver
This legendary bluegrass band will bring you to your feet with their hot picking and awe inspiring gospel quartet. Doyle Lawson and Quicksilver are a headliner group that single-handedly changed the face of bluegrass by bringing mountain harmonies back into the spotlight. The incredible talent of this six member band will create an experience that will not soon be forgotten.

If You Give a Mouse a Cookie - Children's Theatre Company
Last year's Children's Theatre Company's presentation of "Huck Finn: Life on the Mississippi" thrilled packed houses of enthusiastic school children and adults. See this high-energy, high-performance troupe as they return with another popular children's show. If you missed the endearing mouse last year, he is back with his backpack of mishaps, calamities and catastrophes for more adventure on the Sheldon stage.

A Brass Odyssey - Sheldon Theatre Brass Band
Great music has the power to transport us to different worlds and different times. A highly skilled ensemble, top soloists, an inspired conductor and a tradition of entertainment has been a formula for success in concert and contest alike over the past 18 years. Join us as the Sheldon Theatre Brass Band continues to explore the finest music of composers old and new, from cultures worldwide and styles classical to contemporary all performed with a dedication to pleasing audiences throughout the region.
