Rochester’s municipal parking program provides over 4,600 spaces in the downtown. This includes 5 parking ramps, 7 surface lots and on-street metered parking.

Parking meters in downtown Rochester are color-coded according to the amount of time you can park before moving your vehicle: yellow, 30 minutes; gray, 90 minutes; blue, 3 hours; green, 10 hours.

Meters are enforced from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday, except for major holidays: New Year’s Day, Memorial Day, Fourth of July, Labor Day, Thanksgiving and Christmas. Parking meters are not enforced after 5 p.m. on weekdays, Saturdays or Sundays. Fees vary depending on the color code of the meter. Parking in city ramps is free on weekdays when you enter after 5 p.m. and leave before 1:30 a.m., and on weekends when you enter after 9 a.m. and leave before 1:30 a.m. Exceptions apply to ramps and lots during major Civic Center events. Many downtown businesses will validate your tickets for parking in the ramps.

Three parking lots near the downtown area are controlled by large yellow or red honor-pay boxes. Select an empty parking spot, park, note the stall number and put the parking fee in the corresponding slot in the pay box before you leave the lot.

Monthly parking is available by contacting Republic Parking at 507-282-4545. The Parking logo will direct you to available lots and ramps.

Downtown parking fees, subject to change, are as follows: Parking at all ramps starts at $1 per hour. The first hour at all city public ramps is free except for the Center Street and Third Street ramps. The rate for 1 to 1-1/2 hours is $1.50 and increase at varying rates depending upon the ramp.

Parking lot rates vary. Lots with a 90-minute time limit: the First Avenue, Zumbro Market and Government Center ramp — charge $0.75 per hour. The Civic Center North, Civic Center South and Mayo Field lots cost $1.25 for all-day parking and $2 for event parking. The Government Center South ramp has a 10-hour maximum costing 50-cents per hour.

On-street parking rates are 40 cents for a 30-minute meter; 50 cents per hour for a 90-minute meter; 80-cents per hour for a two-hour meter; 50 cents per hour for a three-hour meter and 20 cents an hour for a 10-hour meter.

All city parking meters are equipped to accept the prepaid CashKey. CashKeys are available at the city clerks office (201 4th Street SE; 285-8086) from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday-Friday, except on official city holidays. There is a one-time deposit of $16 per key. CashKeys can be obtained by cash, check, MasterCard or Visa. A 10 percent discount from the parking meter fees is available to users of the CashKey.www.rochestermn.gov/services/ParkingTickets/Default.aspx
