Hayfield School District is composed of the communities of Brownsdale, Hayfield, Oslo, Sargeant, and Waltham. The school system involves approximately 840 students in grades  pre-kindergarten through twelve, with about 65 teachers. Brownsdale Elementary School houses approximately 113 students preschool through grade three in the town of Brownsdale, MN.

The Hayfield School District strives to provide a "caring community promoting lifelong learning." The district stresses the importance of the student's academic, social and emotional development with the emphasis on the student's need to feel successful and important.
